Fully trained and confidential sports and remedial massage services, for individuals or sports teams and clubs.
My name is Mark Terry and I qualified from the Oxford School of Sports Massage (OSSM) in 2012. I hold the BTEC Level 5 Qualification in Sports and Remedial Massage. Additionally, I am a full member of the Institute of Sports & Remedial Massage (ISRM).
I use specific advanced massage techniques, that enable my clients to improve their physical performance and general health. These treatments can reduce chronic pain by correcting occupational postural issues and aid in the recovery of an injury.
Sports massage is the scientific manipulation of soft tissue for injury prevention and therapeutic purposes involving the restoration to normal functional activity of the various structures of the body. By treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal problems ranging from common postural dysfunction to sports injuries - these include general massage techniques, soft tissue release, muscle energy technique and neuromuscular techniques.
It is used to help prevent injuries, to prepare the body for athletic activities and to maintain it in optimal condition. Massage can be used in the conditioning and training phases of sport: pre-, inter- and post-competition, and post travel.
Remedial massage is a deep tissue massage which creates the conditions for the body’s return to normal health after injury or with muscular-skeletal disorders. It is used to treat chronic muscular-skeletal imbalances, strains, sprains, broken bones, bruising or any injury where the skin is intact.
Deep tissue massage removes blockages, damaged cells, scar tissue and adhesions left after injury, speeds up recovery and encourages more complete healing. Remedial massage is also used for conditions created by lifestyle, for example repetitive strain injury and back pain. It is designed to increase the flow of blood and lymph, particularly in the injured areas.
